I harvested my first elk under Jen's wing. She taught me how to find, stalk, and field dress these beautiful animals. I’ve done additional hunts with her since, and all have been a great success at filling the freezer with meat, as well as fun and meaningful time in the backcountry. As a brand-new hunter, I really appreciated her patience and expertise—plus her contagious enthusiasm for me to soak up.

I've hunted and harvested several times with Jen, including my first elk. It is always an amazing experience in the field. She has a passion for the outdoors and hunting that is infectious and year-round. I call Jen the elk whisperer as she intuitively seems to know where to find animals. She is fantastic hunter who has the wonderful ability to flexibly translate considerable knowledge and skills to the terrain, weather, time of year, and—most importantly—other's needs and capacities.

The first time I met Jen, we talked about why she started hunting in her 30s, her love of the outdoors, and her deep respect for wildlife. I didn't think I could ever try hunting—no way! But a year later, when she created a first-of-its-kind, forest-to-table workshop for women to learn, I decided to try—because I understood that she got me and she was 1000 percent responsible and safe. She put together the perfect trip, and I wouldn’t have harvested my first elk with anyone else. Would I ever do it again? Only with Jen.

Hunting always intimidated me because it is so male-dominated. But thanks to Jen's encouragement, I felt like I could learn to shoot, hunt, and harvest—without judgement. Harvesting my first elk was one of the most empowering things I've ever done. And I couldn't have done it without Jen.
